"Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour" has landed an exclusive streaming home.
Disney CEO Bob Iger said during the February 7 Q1 2024 earnings call that the recently crowned four-time Album of the Year Grammy winner's enormously acclaimed live performance video will be available exclusively on Disney+ beginning March 15.
On the call, Iger also informed investors and other listeners that the Disney+ debut will include five songs that have not previously been released in theaters.
Filming for Taylor Swift's "Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour" began in August 2023, with her summer gigs taking place at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California, under a SAG-AFTRA deal negotiated during the strike.
The Sam Wrench-directed film, which released in theaters on October 13, has grossed $262 million worldwide through a co-distribution partnership with AMC Theatres and Cinemark Theatres.
Swift made the concert film (with added tracks "Wildest Dreams," "The Archer," and "Long Live" not aired in cinemas) available on PVOD platforms on December 13 of last year
(IndieWire understands that "The Eras Tour" will continue to be available for purchase on platforms like as iTunes, Vudu, Apple TV, and others.)
"Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour" will now be included in the Disney+ subscription to entice new customers and maybe retain lagging legacy patrons (as of Wednesday, Disney+ had lost 1 million users since its October 2023 price increase).
