Mike Muscala's NBA journey reached the Boston Celtics during the 2022-23 season.
Muscala, 33, told Joel Lorenzi of The Oklahoman on Saturday that he is retiring from professional basketball after 11 NBA seasons. He has played for seven different teams.
Muscala's father told Lorenzi that Muscala, who averaged 5.9 points and 3.1 rebounds in his career, now intends to return to school and get a master's degree in sports management.
He wants to go into basketball coaching or administration after his NBA career.
Muscala was acquired by the Boston Celtics at the trade deadline in February 2023. Boston sent Justin Jackson and two second-round picks to the Oklahoma City Thunder to acquire floor-spacing big man Muscala.
Muscala played just 20 games with the Celtics in which he averaged 5.9 points and 3.4 rebounds per game and shot 38.5% from 3-point range.
The Celtics then sent Bucknell product Muscala to the Washington Wizards in a deal to revamp their roster.
