How Celtics Rookie Baylor Scheierman Feels After Summer League Debut

Boston Celtics first-round pick Baylor Shearman got his first taste of NBA action in Saturday night's Summer League contest against the Miami Heat.

Shearman started alongside members of last season's championship-winning team, such as Neemias Queta, Jordan Walsh, J.D. Davison and Jaden Springer.

The 23-year-old Creighton product scored 13 points while playing 24 minutes, hitting 4 of 9 shots and connecting 3 of 7 times on 3-point shots.

"It felt really good to go out there and play against somebody else," Shearman told reporters after Boston's 119-114 Summer League loss to the Miami Heat.

"The first — I don't know — the first five minutes of the game, it was hard to breathe.

That type of game speed is hard to mimic in practice, but once I settled in, it was good after that. It was really fun to play against somebody new."

Shareman played two seasons at Creighton, and entered June's draft as one of the best outside shooting prospects, catching Boston's attention when the Celtics used their No. 30 selection on him.

Shareman went beyond looking for 3-point opportunities on the offensive side, contributing with five rebounds and six assists.
